Alternative rock band Cupid's Heart are on tour from Saskatchewan and are teaming up with dynamic Toronto-based rock duo Queens & Kings for most of the Ontario leg of their travels for an epic 8 show co-tour. They will have many amazing local guests join their bills along the way. Their Toronto date at The Dakota Tavern on May 15 definitely does not disappoint as they will be joined by two stellar local acts, MIP Power Trio and Vivienne Wilder. This one is not to be missed!
About the bands
When you see CUPID'S HEART play live, you get the feeling that you are in on something special. The energy is electric, and there is a type of raw, belted, authenticity- as unexpected as cello with electric guitar. This unique duo sparked to life within the context of queer love, and some casual jams quickly evolved into a full-fledged musical project. Cellist Stacey Dunn is a member of Matachewan First Nation who began her journey with the cello as an adult. When she met musician and artist Emma Jean they were both able to share creativity and love of music in a new way. Alternative rock fits their music like a baggy sweater. Best described as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana” by Scott Roos from North Sask Music Zine.The Pick Me Up Tour begins on April 25, with their single release available on April 26.

QUEENS & KINGS started as an act of defiance, a refusal to accept limitations, and the rebellion of never giving up. With Alissa's role primarily as drummer / vocalist and Brendan's role as primarily guitarist / vocalist, the two find ways to sound like far more than two people, swapping or playing multiple instruments at once and finding inventive ways to increase their range of dynamics and movement. A must-see unique and dramatic performance of unhindered self-expression.
MIP POWER TRIO: Mip (any/all) is a scrappy rock ‘n’ roll artist with a DIY ethic who writes genre-smashing songs often-personal narratives layered with nuance and humour. Her sound is “raw and wild” (Roots Music Canada) like her dynamic stage performances, where she dives deep into the soul of each song she sings. In 2009, Mip flew into Toronto – alone - with a suitcase and 2 guitars determined to prove that a small town kid from Northern BC could show the city a thing or two about rock’n’roll. Within less than a year, she had formed the Mip Power Trio, a high-energy eclectic underground rock n roll band that champions life’s whimsy and absurdity. They have been deemed ‘Toronto’s best kept secret’ by loyal fans.
VIVIENNE WILDER is an alt-rock singer-songwriter and bassist residing in Toronto. Her music has been described as bubblegrunge, millennial sadcore, garageglam, and litpunk. She might actually be your long lost half-sister.
