ThrashBerta brings the energy to Dakota Tavern on Friday May 31st! A night of swing dancing and head banging, drinking and debauchery and music that is guaranteed to get you out of your seat. Murky Waters hails from Calgary, AB and are bringing their pals Different Rich and Not Gerbils to show you all the Alt Folk, Cow Punk and Folk Rock Calgary has to offer! A mix of original tunes and country covers with a twist, banjo, upright bass and growling vocals, come party with us!
About the bands
MURKY WATERS hails from Calgary AB and brings a unique sound and performance style. Forged in the deepest crevice of the Ocean, a mix of growling vocals, slap-style bass, lightning-quick banjo and hypnotic drums emerged to become Murky Waters. Between cowboy and alt-folk, Murky Waters serves up tunes that'll make you dance and holler!

NOT GERBILS is a Calgary-based duo with a taste of whimsy and adventure, Not Gerbils are artists on a mission to discover what can be accomplished with a guitar, a ukulele, and a profound respect for Sam Rockwell. While the genre can be described as alternative folk or ukulele punk, they describe themselves as "not what you think."

Some people get their joy from the cash they have amassed. We find our centre when we connect to others through music. That makes us DIFFERENT RICH. Our influences are wide, but many seem to feel we could be called folk rock. Most of our songs are written and sung by Eamon Kelly, but a few covers have gotten our treatment. James Crane adds some tasty notes on the little strings. Although they have been playing together for years, the duo format has allowed them to get on stage a lot more recently.
